Ulrik Schnouse:
Ulrik Schnouse was the character I designed and created as my final project for the Maya Comprehensive for Characters course at Escape Studios. I incorporated dynamic simulation and IK/FK blending as well as getting to grips with the basics of character building in Maya. I also created an experimental eye rig and hand painted the skin and fur textures.
Yashica Electro 35 GTN:
I created this model during the Maya Core Escape Studios course. The brief was to reproduce and object of significance from our everyday lives - I chose my film camera as I am a keen photographer and this particular camera is favourite of mine, and the most visually interesting to reproduce. I comped it onto a photograph of a garden table (where my reference shots were taken) to show it in a realistic environment.
Hitch hikers guide to the galaxy:
For my degree show project I produced this animated excerpt from The Hitch Hikers Guide to the Galaxy, using 3DStudio Max. This was my first real experience of working in 3D, and everything about it is my own work. I created everything myself from scratch and I learnt a great deal. In retrospect I felt it was a bit long and the editing needed some work, but having taken on this project on an animation course with no history of 3D works and no technical staff in the field I was pretty pleased with the overall result.
BBCi "going out":
This was a student project commissioned by the local BBC branch to promote their online events information pages. I wrote the script and designed and animated the characters, the voice over was then recorded by the BBC inhouse. It was one a a few selected to be played on locallly on the BBC for several months, and as well as featuring on the BBCi website I was also interviewed for BBC news about the project.
Steady Diggin Workshop:
The band Steady Digging Workshop commissioned myself and Steve McDavid to collaborate in putting together this short animation (as part of a longer set of visuals) to play on screen during their set to promote their new album. The animation was based on the existing album artwork.
Lloyd's 360 - exploading globe:
I created this exploding globe image as a commissioned piece for Carter Wong Design, to go on the front cover of supplement Lloyd's were producing for the Financial Times. The explosion was part hand positioned, part formed by dynamic simulation. Due to the nature of these processes it was a small step from here to achieving an animation, so I carried this out as a personal project.
Chimney Care - Thermocrete Demo:
This simulation shows how Thermocrete can be used to insulate chimneys. It was commissioned by Chimney Care Ltd, a company who line chimneys using this product.
Spoylt:
This packaging demonstration and exhibition stand were created for the lingerie brand Spoylt as a commission from Pearlfisher. The packaging was created by designers at Pearlfisher, the design of the exhibition was a collaboration between the designers and myself.
NUDE:
Whilst working at Pearlfisher I helped develop pack structures for Nude cosmetics and produced these pack visuals. I also worked on a number of flash based projects for this brand including website intros, amongst other things.
